Abstract

Requirements traceability is a critical aspect of software engineering, ensuring that the relationship between requirements artifacts is established and maintained throughout the development lifecycle. This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of techniques and tools for requirements traceability, highlighting their effectiveness, challenges, and future directions. We discuss the importance of requirements traceability in ensuring software quality and managing complexity. The paper also examines the role of traceability in different software development methodologies, such as Agile and Waterfall, and the impact of traceability on project success. Additionally, we present a case study illustrating the practical application of requirements traceability in a real-world software development project. The insights and findings presented in this paper aim to guide practitioners and researchers in improving requirements traceability practices and tools, ultimately enhancing software development outcomes.
